Why remove squirrels from your loft?
Squirrels love a warm, safe place to live just like all other animals (people included). Your loft is a perfect environment for a squirrel to build its nest, and once it sets up home, they are a nightmare to remove.
There are different reasons why somebody might choose to remove squirrels from their home. For me the main reason is the noise. It's very disconcerting to wake up on a morning and hear a squirrel tapping and scuttling about above you, and it's also fairly embarrassing when you have guests round and the noises start. There are other reasons however.
Once a squirrel gets into your loft they will start chewing and destroying things. In my loft, one of the first signs we had squirrels, as opposed to rats or mice, was the amount of loft insulation pulled away from its rightful place and bunched up to make a nest in the far side of the loft. Not good for keeping your house warm. They will also chew through wood and wires, creating a potential fire hazard, and no electricity to whatever gadget the particular wire was servicing.
Squirrels can also carry diseases that are dangerous to humans. Although they are far more sanitary creatures than rats, their droppings can still carry disease such as salmonella.
